Preston Vale is situated 25kms east of Donnybrook in the Preston Valley. The vineyard has high elevations within the Geographe Region's temperate climate. The ripening period consists of warm days followed by cool nights enhancing the varietal characters of the varieties planted; Chardonnay, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec.

Ironstone caps and gravel are dispersed throughout the lower river sands along with red-brown clay loams over decomposing granites situated on the higher northern slopes.

Irrigation water for the growing period is supplied from winter run-off into a large reservoir from the neighboring state forest.
